SIDNEY – Sidney rallied in the fourth quarter to force extra minutes, and edged UV in overtime for the second time this season Tuesday.
The extra period was short on scoring, but two free throws from Kelsey Decker and a bucket from Jolene Krom were enough for the Warriors. “We had a couple of turnovers in overtime that hurt us, and we really didn’t do anything on offense,” said UV coach Brandi Whitbeck.
Decker, Sidney’s leading scorer this season, sat much of the first three periods with foul trouble. The senior forward returned in the final quarter, and her presence on the floor worked as a distraction that allowed teammates Krom and Connor Decker to step up on offense. Krom hit two threes in the fourth, and Connor Decker scored six points to make up a seven-point deficit.
UV’s Corinne Izard led her club with 13 points and Emily Converse scored 11. The Storm (9-8) are idle until sectional play next week.
