COLUMBUS – A “no knock” search warrant was executed by the Chenango County Sheriff’s Office at 5:50 a.m. Friday morning on Kelly Road in the Town of Columbus. According to authorities, the warrant stemmed from an investigation involving the distribution of narcotics in Chenango County.
Kody B. Weidman, 24, was arrested by the Narcotics Divison of the CCSO for criminal nuisance in the first degree, a class E felony; criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree, a class A misdemeanor; and criminally using drug paraphernalia in the second degree, a class A misdemeanor.
The CCSO recovered cocaine and a digital scale during the execution of the warrant.
“This was a successful joint investigation,” said Undersheriff Dan Frair. “This is something we’re going to continue in earnest.”
According to authorities, Weidman is currently a New York State parolee because of a previous drug offense.
He was arraigned in the Town of Columbus Court and was remanded to the Chenango County Correctional Facility on $5,000 cash bail. Weidman is additionally being held on a New York State Parole Warrant.
