NEW BERLIN - At 5 p.m. this Saturday, April 12 the Sam and Adele Golden Foundation for the Arts will celebrate the opening night of the second annual Made in Paint exhibition. The exhibition will be presented in the Sam and Adele Golden Gallery at 188 Bell Road in New Berlin. The work of twenty artists will be on display, approximately half of whom will be present. The event is free and open to the public. Those who cannot make the opening will have plenty of time to view the exhibit, which will be on display through August 29, 2014.
The exhibit is a culmination of works from artists in residency at the Golden Foundation during 2013. The residency program, which began in April and continues through November, is divided into sessions that each last four weeks. Three artists participate in each session, which involves living in a newly converted barn that has beautiful, resort-style bedrooms, an open kitchen and, most importantly, four studio spaces.
The artists have independent studio time, an unlimited access to supplies and paint, and meet two to three times a week with paint technicians affiliated with Golden Artists Colors. “They (the artists) learn about the most innovative materials that Golden Artists produces,” said Barb Golden, Executive Director of the foundation. “It’s not about a finished painting. Here they can explore and experiment without any limits.”
