Man charged with felony assault, held on $100k bail

PRESTON – A 42-year-old Preston man is being held at the Chenango County Correctional Facility on $100,000 bail following his arrest on April 12, 2014 by Chenango County Sheriff’s Office deputies.

According to authorities, two CCSO deputies responded to a 911 call of a domestic dispute in progress late Saturday.

Christopher L. Turner allegedly entered and remained unlawfully in a home and assaulted two residents. One of the two victims had an active order of protection against Turner.

Both victims were transported to local hospitals to be treated for their injuries.

“Turner was found to have used a dangerous instrument during the assault,” read a release from the Sheriff’s Office.

Lieutenant Richard Cobb confirmed that the instrument used was a stun gun.

Additionally, authorities said that four children were in the residence during the incident, each of whom had active orders of protection against Turner.

“The caller was the female victim who was able to get out of the residence and call 911 from the woods,” said Cobb.

Turner was charged with two counts of assault in the first degree, a class B felony; burglary in the first degree, a class B felony; aggravated criminal contempt, a class D felony; criminal contempt; criminal possession of a weapon in the fourth degree, a class A misdemeanor; criminal mischief in the fourth degree, a class A misdemeanor; and endangering the welfare of a child, a class A misdemeanor.

He was arraigned in the Town of Preston Court and was remanded to the CCCF in lieu of $100,000 bail.

Turner is to reappear in court at a later date.
