Unatego 9, Sherburne-Earlville 3
Senior Nate Piazzi pitched with flair in Sherburne Earlville’s six point loss to Unatego Monday.
Piazzi struck out nine while walking only three but let up 12 hits, most in the early innings, allowing Unatego to grab a jump out lead.
They jumped right on us. By the third (inning) we were already down eight, zero,” said Sherburne Earlville varsity baseball head coach Brian Hicks.
“Nate pitched well, the wind was rough, he missed the strikezone a little high, that’s how they got their six doubles,” Hicks said.
Piazzi had his curve ball working and was keeping the ball down. Through many of the later innings, he would get into trouble and then get a ground ball for the out. Early on there were a few balls that were misplayed in the outfield because of the wind.
Sherburne -Earlville struggled to put the ball in play and fell to a good hitting ball club that hit all the gaps.
