Turner Remanded without Bail Following Felony Hearing

PRESTON – Christopher L. Turner, 42, who was arrested by Chenango County Sheriff’s deputies on April 12, 2014, following a report of a domestic dispute, appeared in the Town of Preston Court on Tuesday for a felony hearing in regards to the charges he is facing.

It is alleged that Turner committed the felonies of two counts of first degree assault, one count of first degree burglary, and aggravated criminal contempt. He has additionally been charged with various misdemeanors including criminal possession of a weapon in the fourth degree, criminal mischief in the fourth degree, and endangering the welfare of a child.

Two victims, according to a release from the CCSO, were transported to local hospitals to be treated for their injuries. It was confirmed that the weapon of a stun gun was used in the incident. Authorities also said four children were in the home at at the time of the incident.

According to Chenango County District Attorney Joseph McBride, one of the two assault victims was present at the hearing and testified.

Turner appeared with defense counsel John Cameron, Chenango County Public Defender.

Following his initial arrest on the charges, Turner was held at the Chenango County Correctional Facility in lieu of $100,000 cash bail.

“Mr. Turner was remanded to the Chenango County Correctional Facility without bail after the felony hearing yesterday,” said McBride. "Bail will be set by the superior court."

McBride said the case is pending grand jury action.
