Norwich 3, Chenango Forks 2
Norwich pitcher Cody Barnes threw 14 strikeouts in an extra inning win over Chenango Forks Monday.
Barnes gave up only three hits and three walks in a pitching duel against CF’s Justin Lake.
Lake had seven strikeouts himself and both pitchers threw all eight innings.
Fourteen strikeouts in Barnes high number for the season.
“He gutted it out,” said Norwich varsity baseball head coach Rich Turnbull, “This was a typical Cody game, he really wanted to win today.”
CF scored two runs in the third inning.
They lead of the inning with a single and the subsequent batter bunted.
“We threw it away down the first baseline, the guy came all the way around and scored,” Turnbull said.
The player that bunted ended up and third base and scored on the next at bat due to a wild pitch.
Norwich scored the winning run in the eighth inning on a Ricky Runyon RBI single.
Robert Jeffrey drew a full count walk to start the inning.
Chris Trevisani hit a single and advanced Jeffrey to second.
With runners on first and second, Ricky Runyon hit a long drive over the centerfielder’s head and Jeffrey scored easily from second.
Runyon was 3-4 with the game winning RBI.
Norwich’s top of the line up came through again, going 8-11 combined with three RBI and two runs scored.

Bainbridge-Guilford 6, Unadilla Valley 4
Lucas Butcher's line drive to center field in the top of the 9th inning scored Dylan Mondore and Kyle Hanvey defeating Unadilla Valley 6-4.
Trailing 3-0, Unadilla Valley Storm scored two runs in the fourth inning, on a two-run single by Will Martin, plating Mason Alford and Ryan Postma.
In the fourth, Alford's RBI single tied the game and Austin Lewis scored on Andrew Radke's sacrifice fly to take a 4-3 lead.
Alford allowed one earned run, eight hits and no walks while striking out five over eight innings of work.
Brendan Brooker was tagged with the loss, walked none, struck out one, and allowed two runs.
Mark Cordner picked up the win, pitching four shutout innings.
He struck out four, walked three and gave up three hits.
Mondore had three hits for BG, Butcher finished with two hits and three RBI, and Cordner added two hits.
Lewis had two hits for UV.
Unadilla Valley (5-5, 2-5), hosts Afton Tuesday.

Gilbertsville-Mt. Upton 10, Cherry Valley 6
Gilbertsville-Mt. Upton had three players with two or more hits in a win over Cherry Valley Monday.
Katie Schultes, Kelsie Ross and Jocelyn Dunfie all went 2-4.
Dunfie had four RBI and Schultes scored a run.
The pitchers for each team had nine strikeouts a piece.
Cherry Valley’s Olivia Hall was 2-4 with four runs scored.

Bainbridge-Guilford had eight hits in an 18 run victory over Gilbertsville-Mt. Upton Monday.
B-G’s Palmatier and Thorton each went 3-5 and Thorton had a double.
Unadilla Valley’s pitcher Tia Peck had one strikeout and five walks.
UV had six errors in the loss.
B-G pitcher Shew tallied five strikeouts and threw only one walk.
B-G scored seven runs in the first inning and eight runs in the sixth inning.
The Bobcats play Unatego today at home.
Unadilla Valley also plays today, at home against Afton.
