NORWICH – The thirteenth annual Allegro Run for the Arts is scheduled for this Saturday, May 3 with a horn sound off at 9 a.m. A fundraiser for the Chenango Arts Council, the 5K run will begin and end in front of its main office on 27 West Main Street, Norwich.
“I always look forward to this event,” said Operations Director Joyce Zummo. “It's a fun day. You get to see a lot of people from out of town.”
Registration is open now up until the morning of the event. Those who pre-register pay $15 and registration is $20 for those who register on Saturday morning. Those who would like to participate can follow the registration link on http://www.chenangoarts.org/.
Participants who pre-register will receive a t-shirt prior to the race and those who register that day will get their t-shirts afterwards (t-shirts come free with registration).
Typically the Allegro run involves 120 to 130 runners with a range of ages and skill levels. Some people are serious runners who will look for best time, while families may choose to walk with small children.
Many have practiced the route of the run, which is posted on the council's website. Runners will also be given a map of the route prior to the beginning of the race.
