SHERBURNE – This year the Sherburne Arts & Crafts Family Festival (June 14, Gaines Park, Sherburne) will host a special "artist:" Master Falconer Rick West, of Adams, New York, will be on hand to exhibit his birds of prey.
Rick holds state and federal licenses and has been breeding and training birds for more than 30 years, during which time he also has been educating people about these magnificent creatures. In his program Rick will discuss breeding, caring for, and training his birds, their unique hearing, eyesight, and plumage, their lifecycles, falconry as a sport, and how some species previously on the endangered list have been brought back. Among the birds in Gaines Park on June 14 will be hawks, owls, falcons, a kookaburra, eagles, and more! Bring your kids! Bring your camera! Bring a folding chair!
This year's show will feature artists and crafters exhibiting and selling their work. We'll also have a kids' interactive art tent, where your children can make art for free. Come to Gaines Park on June 14 for music, food, art, shopping, a special exhibit by art students from S-E, and the fascinating wildlife program Art of the Bird. If you are an artist or crafter, there's still plenty of time to sign up! Request an application to exhibit at sherburneartshow@aol.com.
