The Norwich women’s track and field team won the Section IV Class B Championship, scoring 22 more points that the second place school on Thursday.
The Purple Tornado racked up 115.00 total points, compared to 93 for second place Maine Endwell.
“I honestly don’t know if we’ve ever won Class B’s before,” said Norwich varsity Track & Field head coach Shaun Horan.
According to Oneonta’s Daily Star website, Norwich has not won in at least six years, with Oneonta winning twice over that time period.
Norwich’s Brooke Bonney and Matt Murray repeat as Class B champions, with Murray winning the 400m and 800m and Bonney taking home the shot put and discus titles.

She is consistently setting the bar,” Horan said.
Morgan Hagenbuch placed third for the women in the 100m hurdles.
“Anybody who placed in the top three at Class B is automatically into the State Qualifiers,” Horan said.
