GREENE – The Chenango District of the Baden-Powell Council of the Boy Scouts of America held their annual Chenango District Volunteers Recognition Dinner at the United Methodist Church in Greene on Tuesday, June 3rd.
The dinner honored all district volunteers with leadership, training, and volunteerism awards. The two capstone awards for the ceremony were the Chenango District George Blood Memorial Lifetime Achievement Award and the District Award of Merit.
The 2014 George Blood honoree was Anne Ward of Norwich, recognizing her long Scouting history .
“She was quite literally born into Scouting in 1931,” said Dan Ward, Chenango District Commissioner and son of the aforementioned Ward. “After making sure she and her mother were fine her father, Herbert Horton – a Scout Council Executive at the time – left the hospital that same evening to attend a local Boy Scout Troop's court of honor.”
