NEW HARTFORD – Incumbent Congressman Richard Hanna won the Republican Primary for New York's 22nd Congressional District Tuesday with a total of 15,056 votes (52.6 percent), as opposed to contender Claudia Tenney who had a total of 13,442 (46.96 percent).
In Chenango County, Hanna won with a total of 1,312 votes (52.78 percent of votes), compared with Tenney of 1,166 votes (46.9 percent). Polls were open from noon until 9 p.m. on Tuesday and Hanna made several visits throughout the district before waiting for the final count at Piggy Pat's Barbecue in New Hartford.
The 22nd Congressional District covers all of Chenango, Cortland, Madison and Oneida Counties and parts of Broome, Herkimer, Oswego and Tioga Counties.
