OXFORD – Twenty years is a milestone for any venture, but for a group of Oxford residents who have gathered weekly to prepare Sunday breakfast for their community the question is “where did the time go?”
Members of the Oxford Fort Hill Post of the American Legion are proud of their tradition and look forward to meeting new faces while chatting it up with the regulars every Sunday.
“We serve between 100-150 patrons every week,” said Jeanie Petersen, Community Relations personnel for the post. “We've been at it a long time with a great turn out every week.”
The Legion's Sunday breakfast’s continued success over the years comes down to three things: simplicity, value and consistency. The weekend meal serves as one of the longest continuously held community breakfasts in the county, and has become a staple weekend routine for many.
