PRESTON – During a severe thunder storm on June 17 and 18, the steeple of the Preston United Methodist Church was struck by lightning, right below the cross, causing major damage to the structure and the electrical system of the church.

Preston Fire Department volunteers came and inspected the church and shut off the electric power so there would be no fire. At this point in time, most of the electrical work has been completed and inspected so that the congregation may continue worshiping in the beloved church, and the damaged steeple has been removed.
