SHERBURNE – In its only home outing of the season, Sherburne-Earlville's boys and girls each grabbed one team victory apiece Wednesday afternoon.
Among 37 boys competing over the 2.6-mile layout, S-E senior Ian Benedict was sixth overall timing 17:56. On the girls' side the Marauders' Miranda Wright wound up a team-best 18th out of 42 girls clocking 24:53.
S-E head coach Anne Geary said the course was reduced by half a mile due to course damage suffered from the spring, 2014 run-off. "It was kind of hard to gauge what the times meant, but I think the kids were encouraged by their performances today, and they appreciated the opportunity to perform in front of family and friends," Geary said.
The Marauders race in the E.J. Herman Invitational on Saturday.
