NORWICH – For 105 years, the 30-member board of the Monday Evening Musical Club has been a source for aspiring musicians to delve deeper into their love of music and be set on a path to a longlasting music career.
The organization will continue that longstanding tradition with a free-will donation concert set to take place from 6-7:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 6 at the United Church of Christ, 11 W. Main St. in Norwich. Proceeds raised will benefit the Monday Evening Mucical Club scholarship fund which awards young musicians who go on to become music majors in college.
Proceeds will additionally benefit the organization’s fund to provide assistance for youth who want to take music lessons and show an aptitude but lack financial resources. According to this year’s program chair Anita Humer, the fundraiser is an excellent opportunity to give young musicians the chance to jump-start their music careers.
“These students work very hard,” said Humer. “This is a good opportunity for them.”
