Chenango Forks 3, Norwich 0

NORWICH – Chenango Forks took advantage of small mistakes in the Norwich defensive zone, and went on to its second straight three-goal win over the Tornado this season.

After a misclear in the NHS defensive zone, McKenna Williams tucked away the first Forks goal with 22:55 left in the opening half. Sixteen minutes later, Norwich keeper Kassidy Seary came out toward the top of the 18-yard box to break up an offensive push by the Blue Devils, but Kaitlyn Walsh was able to chip the ball over Seary for the second goal.

“Chenango Forks is at the point in its program where they have kids in the right place to make plays in situations (like the ones) where they scored tonight,” said Norwich coach Adam Sprague.

Walsh scored nine minutes into the second half as Norwich contained the high-powered Forks attack the final 31 minutes. “We’ve improved a lot this season, and Forks has gotten better since the first time we played this season,” Sprague said. “Our senior leadership made my job a lot easier this year, and we have a strong group of kids coming back next year.”

Norwich (4-9-1) has no other games on the schedule, but may pick up a non-league game before calling it a season, Sprague said.
