NORWICH— A convicted sex offender and forger were sentenced at Chenango County Court by Judge Frank B. Revoir, Jr. last Friday, Nov. 10.
• Darren L. Pollock, 28, of Norwich was arrested in February 2014 for five counts of promoting a sexual performance of a child, class D felonies and five counts of possessing a sexual performance of a child, class E felonies.
He was remanded to the Chenango County Correctional Facility on a $5,000 cash bail. Pollock later posted bail.
Pollock was charged with the child sex crimes following an in-depth joint investigation by the New York State Police, Norwich City Police Department and the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force.
The Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force alerted the NYSP and NPD to a hit they received in Albany suggesting someone was involved in child pornography. The task force was created in response to an increasing number of underage victims online.
After local authorities were informed about Pollock, his computer was seized and searched before he was charged.
Pollock pleaded guilty to possessing the sexual performance of a child.
Revoir said he took into consideration the fact Pollock was a U.S. Army veteran, that he is working on the things that led him to be charged with child sex crimes and the “negatives and positives” of the situation.
