EARLVILLE – Last week The Evening Sun published a story which highlighted a local food pantry – The Earlville Food Cupboard – which was recently selected from thousands of pantries nationwide for a chance to be awarded a substaintial grant.
The grant was made possible through a “Holiday Makeover” contest sponsored by the Walmart corporation and had well over one thousand entries. Of the entries, the contest was whittled down to 300 contestants, which was then again divided in two to for a short list of 150 finalists.
Pantries that will be awarded the grant – in the unprecedented amount of $20,000 each – will be chosen at the hands of the general public through a web-vote on the Walmart website. Only a mere 75 will win out of the thousands of eentries.
