WINDSOR – Norwich and Sherburne-Earlville each crowned two champions, and Norwich was second overall in scoring at the 58th Annual Windsor Christmas Tournament, completed Tuesday night.
B-G/Afton/Harpursville’s Chris Cirigliano gave his club its lone championship, and the Bears were two spots back in fourth out of 29 teams entered in the longest-running high school wrestling tournament in New York.
Huntington edged the Purple Tornado by a mere three points, and did so by virtue of four finalists – two winning titles.
Purple Tornado seniors Tristan Rifanburg (145) and Frank Garcia (152) won championships to carry their team into the number two spot. Rifanburg won a 6-2 decision over Nate Grubham of Whitney Point handing Grubham his first loss of the season. Garcia (152) repeated his Clyde Cole finals victory over B-G/A/H’s Madison Hoover taking a 10-0 major decision.
