Norwich 80, Susquehanna Valley 37
CONKLIN – With Norwich’s two leading scorers combining for just eight points, senior Michael Oralls more than made up the difference.
Oralls scored a career-high 24 points, and added 12 rebounds, five assists, and three steals as Norwich (12-2) ran its victory streak to seven games. Backup guard Chris Trevisani scored 11, and backup forward Jordan Vinal also snagged 12 boards.
“Michael was just all over and he dominated the court tonight,” said Norwich coach Tom Collier. “It was clearly the best game he has played for us this season.”
Susquehanna Valley was without leading scorer Dave Matthews, but it may not have made much difference. Norwich’s starting lineup played most of its minutes in the first and third quarters, and during that span, the Tornado outscored the Sabers, 45-6
NHS led by 16 at halftime, that due to a 20-4 opening quarter that set the tone. Coming out for the third quarter, the visiting club shredded the Sabers, 25-2, over the ensuing eight minutes. Oralls scored seven in the stanza including a three, while Carlos Ithier and Zan Stewart also pumped in three balls. Seven Norwich players scored in the quarter setting up a fourth quarter of mop-up time for the reserves.
“From the middle of the second quarter until halftime, we were a little sloppy with the ball,” Collier said. “We came out like gangbusters in the third quarter and put the game away.”
