OXFORD – On Friday, Feb. 20 at 7:30 p.m., 6 On the Square welcomes Celtic multi-instrumentalists Cassie and Maggie MacDonald to its stage for the first time.

The Nova Scotian sisters deliver roots and traditional music preserved by the Irish and Scottish immigrants to the Canadian Atlantic Provinces, with a unique and modern twist. While on one hand familiar Celtic arrangements are enjoyed through Cassie's fiddlework beside Maggie's guitar and keys, listeners are often pleasantly surprised when the tenor change of original tunes reflect an unexpected creativity from the truly gifted sibling-duo.

Maggie and Cassie won the East Coast Music Association Traditional Group Record Award for 2015, Live Ireland Music Awards New Group of the Year for 2014, and Chicago Irish-American New Emerging Artist Recording of the Year in 2014.
