NORWICH – In the Christian world, Palm Sunday marks the beginning of Holy Week ending with Easter Sunday this weekend.

Palm Sunday commemorates Jesus’ triumphant entry riding atop a donkey into the City of Jerusalem, where crowds of people greeted him by waving palms as he proceeded.

An ecumenical service that included the United Church of Christ, First Congregational, First Baptist Church, and Broad St. United Methodist Church of Norwich was held in West Park in the City of Norwich to commemorate on Sunday. The celebration included a blessing of the palms at the United Church of Christ, prayer at the First Baptist Church, and worship at the Broad St. United Methodist Church.
