NORWICH – The second annual Dollars for Scholars 5k, sponsored by NBT bank, is scheduled to be held on Saturday, April, 18 this year.

The race will begin at 10 a.m. at the High School track. The race will begin at the track, will go around the High School and down Midland Drive, it will then continue onto Hale Street, East River Road, and then back to the track. Participants may start arriving at 9s a.m. and must be checked in by 9:50 a.m.

There was a great turnout for the inaugural event last year, and organizers hope to have an even better turnout this year.

The student chapter of Norwich Dollars for Scholars helps organize the event, which is not only a great help, but also a great learning experience for those involved. The students have been busy collecting raffle prizes for the event from local area businesses. Registered racers will be eligible to enter the raffle.

Thanks to the event sponsors – NBT Bank, the Canasawacta Country Club, Greg LaMonica Agency, KMCoates Photography, Laral Management, and Peggy Parker Real Estate – all of the race expenses have been covered. This has made it possible for 100 percent of the proceeds raised through registration to go directly toward college scholarships for Norwich High School students.
