OXFORD – Winter has been hanging on tight, but springtime planting is just around the corner; and with that the folks of the Oxford Farmers' Market are gearing up for their annual spring Seed-Swap.
Beginning this Saturday from 10 a.m. – 1 p.m., the at the Parish House Community Center of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, the Oxford Winter Farmers’ Market will play host for those with an itchy green thumb to share and swap their extra planting seeds, pick up something new to grow in your garden.
Those who prefer to just buy their veggies and produce from area gardeners are invited out to stock up on local produce, baked goods, kitchen staples, and hand-crafted items available at the winter market.
“Seeds are the first link in the food chain as well as being the storage place for culture and history,” said seed-saving advocate Dr. Vandana Shiva.“Saving [and sharing] seed is a duty to the earth and to future generations.”
