In last week’s column I talked about beginner’s luck. Over the weekend, I got to see this in full effect, and I was happy to see it.

It's been said that luck happens when preparation meets opportunity. In most cases this is true, and this weekend was one of those occasions. By being crafty and using skills learned over time, you can get lady luck to shine down on you more often. This goes for all kinds of sports and activities, and is an integral part of mastering a skill. As a hunter and fisherman, I have seen lady luck become quite keen to me over the years. I look forward to every outing and embrace every experience – good and bad. At its worse ,you get outside and get some exercise; but at its best, you get all of that plus some incredible table fare and an amazing outdoor experience.
