GREENE – Greene captured the opening game of its tournament beating Oxford Friday before falling to Dryden in the championship game Saturday afternoon.
Dryden led by a 9-0 count after four innings only to see that margin erased. Greene's seven-run fourth and three-run sixth helped knot the game at 10-10.
"We had made five of our errors in the first four innings, and seemed like every time they hit the ball, it hit an open area," said Greene coach Rick Smith of the early part of the game."
Dryden unlocked the tie with three runs in the seventh as Jordan Robinson connected on a go-ahead two-run triple, then scored an insurance run on a single.
Sydney Bennett had a two-run single in Greene's fourth, while J.B. Taft, Brittany Johns, and Laura Durdon contributed RBI hits.
Alyssa Sands finished with three hits.
The Trojans opened their game against Oxford with seven straight singles, and that preceded Maddie Brink's two-run double. In the sixth, Brink started the frame with a double, and scored on Lydia Howard's two-run homer. Later in the inning, Brink came to the plate a second time, and drove in two with a single.
Howard was 5-for-6 with five RBI, Sands had three hits and four RBI, Johns drove in three runs, and Brink scored five runs to go with her ribbies.
