Chenango Valley 17, Norwich 12
FENTON – Chenango Valley pounded out 20 hits winning a slugfest against visiting Norwich Wednesday afternoon.
The top six batters in the Warriors' order accounted for all of the hits led by Lexus Phillips, who had five hits and four runs scored. Earlier this season, CV edged Norwich 15-14 in another hitting showcase the featured better than a half-dozen extra-base hits.
"It was pretty much the same story as the last time we played them," said Norwich coach Scott Moore. "We got up on them early, then they took the lead back.
"We scored enough to win most games, we just got outhit tonight."
Norwich junior Kassidy Seary closed the season with her best offensive performance. Seary homered twice hitting a grand slam in the second, then she added a three-run jack in Norwich's six-run fifth for seven total RBI.
NHS junior Shannon Moore went 4-for-5 with three RBI, Hannah Eddy had three hits, while Gabby Mirabito and Allison Yacano picked up two hits apiece.
Norwich closes the season with a 4-14 record.
