NORWICH – Two individuals were arrested Friday and sit in the Chenango County Correctional Facility after both being charged with felony drug crimes.
25-year-old Michael B. Mack of Utica was arrested and charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance in the third degree, a class B felony according to the Corrections Division at the Chenango County Sheriff's Office.
The Corrections Division additionally said Kristine Tiffany was arrested and charged with the same: The class B felony of criminal possession of a controlled substance in the third degree.
Mack has a lengthy arrest record, and according to the New York State Department of Corrections, served state time for criminal possession of a controlled substance in the third degree in 2010 and is therefore a felon.
Mack was one of the four individuals arrested in August of 2014 following a nine hour multi-agency search after a reported home invasion burglary. When authorities were searching for those involved in the alleged burglary, residents of South New Berlin, Gilbertsville, Butternuts, and all surrounding areas were instructed to lock their doors and remain inside. Mack posted bail the day of his arraignment on that charge following an appearance in Butternuts Court (Otsego County) after his bail was cut in half.
According to The Evening Sun archives, Mack was arrested on drug charges four times in 2012, twice in March. March 9, 2012, Mack was cited for unlawful possession of marijuana. On March 14, 2012, he was charged following a City of Norwich drug bust with criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree and first degree loitering. For the charges in March, Mack was released on his own recognizance.
Mack was additionally arrested in November 2012 and was charged with first degree loitering, a class B misdemeanor; seventh degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a class A misdemeanor; second degree criminally using drug paraphernalia, a class A misdemeanor; criminal possession of a hypodermic instrument, a class A misdemeanor; and unlawful possession of marijuana, a violation.
It was said that the drug allegedly possessed in Friday's arrest was crack.
