underway. Pictured at the volunteer board outside NBT Bank in Norwich are members of the Greater Chenango Cares Committee celebrating the first 200 volunteer slots to be filled. Greater Chenango Cares is a collaborative with the United States Department of Defense that will bring dozens of service men and women to the area to provide no-cost health care, dental, vision and veterinary services to members of the community. The event is expected to serve nearly 7,000 residents, creating an enormous need for volunteers. The Greater Chenango Cares Committee estimates that 900 sets of helping hands will be needed in a variety of areas from inpatient admissions to parking assistance. More than 320 volunteers have been recruited to date, but there's still a ways to go before the event takes place on July 13-22 at the Norwich High School.
