OXFORD – An Amber Alert has been issued by the New York State Police after a toddler has been abducted by his non-custodial parent, who police say is armed with a handgun and has a violent history.
The New York State Police are investigating a child abduction that occurred near Canal St. in Oxford at approximately 6:35 p.m. Thursday.
The child is Henry Kellam (who will be referred to as Henry throughout), a caucasian male approximately one and a half years old. Henry is described as having a brush cut, brown hair and green eyes. Police also said he is 2 feet, 11 inches in height, and weighs approximately 38 pounds. Henry was last seen wearing red plaid shorts, a white t-shirt, and camouflage sneakers. Additionally, Henry has a scar over his left eye.
The suspect in the abduction is also named Henry Kellam, the non-custodial parent of the boy. Kellam has been described as a 31-year-old caucasian male, with brown hair and green eyes. Police said he is approximately 6 feet, three inches tall, weighing approximately 145 pounds.
The vehicle has been identified as a white Buick LeSabre with a Texas license plate number of CPT6834. The car’s trunk is said to be held shut with rope.
Kellam has a violent history, according to the police, and is armed with a handgun.
Additionally, Kellam is a fugitive from Texas, and in flight from the police.
“The suspect has made threats to shoot the police if approached,” read a release from the New York State Police.
