ONEONTA – This Saturday, June 20, the Oneonta Theatre will be hosting an event that will be fun for the whole family. It will be a celebration for the audio book release of “Meet Marvis Frazier - The Story of The Son of Smokin’ Joe.”

The book is an autobiography of Marvis Frazier’s life as a boxer and life after boxing, co-written by local author Jamie Potter. The book chronicles the life of Frazier as a boxer, both professionally and a stellar amateur career, and his life after boxing.

“The book follows a lot of what Frazier did as a boxer,” said co-author Potter. “It also follows Frazier’s life after boxing and his battle with depression.”

Potter added that he has since went on to become very good friends with the Frazier family. “When I began my career as a writer, I didn’t expect to be writing about boxing,” marveled Potter. “Now I love it.”

In the book, Frazier – the son of Hall of Famer and legendary champion Joe Frazier – talks about living up to his father’s shadow and his two most remembered fights against Larry Holmes and Mike Tyson.
