SMYRNA – The Smyrna Fire Department recently received a new EMS Rescue Truck. The truck is a 2015 Ford EMS Rescue Truck and will be used for first response within the community.
The truck was purchased with funds donated from the Francis G. Shepardson estate. The Smyrna Rescue responds to assist in the care of a patient until the transporting ambulance arrives on scene. This care can be anything from giving the patient a cold drink to checking the vitals of a victim of tragedy.
This year, Smyrna Rescue training focused on rehab of fire members during a structure fire or major incident. The Smyrna Rescue will help rehab not only fire victims, but also members of their Fire Department.
