Chenango Hellcats 6, Endicott 6
NORWICH – After squandering a two-run lead entering the seventh inning, the Chenango Hellcats grabbed two runs back to force a tie with Endicott Thursday night.
The game was called by umpires after seven innings due to darkness.
Endicott scored four runs in the top of the seventh to erase the Hellcats' 4-2 advantage. A dropped fly ball in right field allowed the go-ahead run to score, and Pete Peghero singled to left field giving Endicott a two-run advantage.
The Hellcats started their own rally in the last of the seventh when lead-off hitter Jon Liuzzo was hit by a pitch. Joe DeVona singled to right field, and a wild pitch moved both runners up. Conor Graven-Briggs drilled an RBI single to left for the first run, and Nate Scheer's RBI groundout to shortstop tied the game. Endicott relief pitcher Jared McStine worked out of the inning striking out the final two Hellcats batters.
DeVona went 3-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored, Cameron Heggie finished 2-for-4 with a run scored, and Graven-Briggs collected two hits in three at-bats.
The Hellcats play at Vestal Saturday at 1 p.m.
