Just thinking back a bit, Patrollers! Now we're in the middle of the Summer, the Toddster thought it might be a good idea to take a little break and to take a look back at some movies based on TV shows that makes the Summer more fun. You can find all of these on DVD now and the Toddster also has these in his own vault (If the vault part was only true. Oh well, Still sounds cool).
Best TV Shows Made Into Movies
Mission Impossible-It's always good to know that there are those working behind the scenes to keep the World safe. Ethan Hunt (Tom Cruise) was one of the best agents around who worked for the IMF (Impossible Missions Force) and went on assignments all over the World. Working for his mentor Jim Phelps (Jon Voight), his latest assignment has him and his team tracking a list of names of agents in every agency in every country that has been stolen. When Ethan's team is killed, the IMF thinks he's involved and go after him with everything they have. Now Ethan will have to use all of his skills to stay one step ahead of them to find out who's framed him and why. Will he be able to pull it off? Cruise is summoned for another mission in "Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation" in theaters July 31.
Star Trek- Boldly going where no one has gone before really took on a whole new meaning on this one. It's always great when someone takes a story that everyone knows and takes it a step further. In this one, we meet James T Kirk (Chris Pine), Mr. Spock (Zachary Quinto) and the rest of the crew of the Starship Enterprise. They don't exactly start out as the best of friends but they'll have to learn to work together and fast. A renagade Romulan Commander named Nero (Eric Bana) has come from the future to destroy the Earth and has an immense hatred for Spock. Now Kirk and Spock will have to put their differences aside to stop him. Can they do it or is the fate of the Earth doomed? Production is set to begin on "Star Trek 3" with a release set for the Summer of 2016. There is also a rumor going around that Pine could be the next Green Lantern and he has already been cast as Steve Trevor for the solo Wonder Woman movie on the way for 2017.
Serenity- Being on a crew going from one adventure to the next wouldn't be boring. Captain Malcolm Reynolds (Nathan Fillion) fought in the war until he decided to get out after he lost his taste for fighting. Now he does all he can when he runs a cargo ship called "Serenity" that takes any job or carries anything if the price is right. Mal decides to take on a couple of passengers named Simon (Sean Maher) and his sister River (Summer Glau). Mal learns later that they're are on the run from the Government because River has some hidden talents so can take advantage of her. Things are tricky but for a while but something happens that triggers River to become violent. Mal has to get them off the ship to keep his crew safe but learns that's not such a good idea when an assassin (Chiwetel Ejiofor) is sent after them. Can Mal find a way to stop him and save his crew before it's too late? If you want to see this show from the beginning, pick up the complete series of "Firefly" available on DVD in stores now.
Transformers- If you had a vehicle that could be more than meets the eye, you would sure be excited. Sam Witwicky (Shia Lebouef) wanted to get a car so he could be somebody and impress Mikela (Megan Fox). His Father finds one for him but it's not the one he wanted but we all know you have start somewhere. Sam starts to learn that his car seems to be acting funny and even starts to drive around by itself. He finds out that his car is really part of a race of ancient robots that have been around for millions of years. His car's name is Bumblebee and he's part of a team of autobots led by Optimus Prime. They have come to the Earth searching for a relic called the Allspark that would be able to regenerate their dying planet of Cybertron. They also have to stop the evil decepticons led by Megatron that are looking for it too so they can use to take over the Universe. Can Sam make a difference in their fight? There are a lot of different incarnations of Transformers available on DVD. Check them out and see what you might like.
