Getting into the groove, Patrollers! The DVD Patrol is back after a short hiatus but we've been getting primed for August not just with movies but for the theater and for those on DVD too. The Toddsters' Take we promised for "Pixels" is in as well. More on this one down a bit. Here you go!
New on DVD
Insurgent-(The Divergent Saga)- Sometimes when you learn you're different, there are those that might want to get rid of it because they don't think the same way. Tris (Shalene Woodley) and her friends were found what was to be called "Divergent" because they actually did what they wanted and use their talents to think for themselves. After taking down the Government that wanted to condemn them, they've been leading a peaceful life. Now the Government has reformed and have a found a way to use their divergent ways against them. Tris and her friends have to find a way to come together again to stop them. Will Tris able to stop them one more time? My sources tell me that there is still another chapter of the "Divergent" saga on the way. Stay Tuned!
Home- Cartoon Spotlight returns with an all new tale featuring the voices of Jim Parsons (The Big Bang Theory) and Rhianna (Battleship). Tip (Rhianna) was on a special trip to find someone close to her. She's in for the shock of her life when she meets "Oh" (Parsons). Oh has just landed on the Earth because he's trying to get away from his people because he want to do what he wants. It'll take a bit for these two to get along with one another. Can they help each other get what each want? Parsons returns as Sheldon on "The Big Bang Theory when Season 9 starts in September on CBS. Will Sheldon and Amy (Miyam Bialik) get back together? We'll see.
Also on DVD
Justice League:Gods And Monsters- Let's keep Cartoon Spotlight going and take a look at a different on the Big Three that everyone knows or think they do. Superman is a bit rougher but fights for good in a bit of a harder way. Batman is not Bruce Wayne. He's actually a Vampire. Wonder Woman is still beautiful and fight for Women and Amazons everywhere. They all get together to form a different type of Justice League but this World fears each of them a bit more. Now they'll have more to fear when a series of murders happen and they're accused of doing it. Now they'll all have to get together to find out who the real murderers are. The Three also have trouble agreeing on how things should be done. Can they get to agree so they can clear their names? In a couple of weeks, there is a new DVD called "Batman Unlimited:Monster Mayhem with Batman reuniting Robin, Nightwing, the Flash, and Green Arrow. Also, coming later in the Fall Batman teams up with his son for a new adventure in "Batman:Bad Blood where they will team with Batwoman.
Now in Theaters
Pixels- It's always fun to be good at something that no one else could do. Sam Brenner (Adam Sandler) as a kid was the best at playing some of the World's best video games and when it came time to prove he was the best in the World, he came up a little short. After the tournament, it was decided that the video games would be put into a time capsule and sent out into space. Sometimes there are other beings out there that can take things a bit too literally. An alien race thought the Earth had sent these video games to invade their planet. Years later, they come down to challenge us and if they win, they take over the Earth. Now the President calls on Sam and his friends to dust off their skills and use them to stop the aliens. Can Sam get a second chance to prove he's the best player in the World and save the planet in the process?
The Toddster's Take- I always like to see something that brings back a a lot of good memories. Playing video games growing up was a lot of fun and I miss them. Even though I carry of them in my backpack all the time. It pays to be prepared. I love Adam Sandler and he did a good job along with the cast but it dragged a bit at times and the story could've been better in other areas. Great special effects but this only the one other thing that saves the movie from being boring. Take a look if you're interested.
