SHERBURNE – A 35-year-old man sits in the Chenango County Correctional Facility after his arrest on multiple meth-related charges.

Robert J. Collins, of Sherburne, was arrested by members of the Chenango County Sheriff’s Office Tuesday after authorities said he was manufacturing meth along the banks of the Chenango River.

Narcotics Detectives located Collins behind North Main Street in Sherburne along the river.

Per a release from the CCSO, “Collins was cooking methamphetamine using the ‘one pot’ method before he was ordered to stop and taken into custody.”

Authorities said Collins was found to be in possession of methamphetamine as well as laboratory equipment and materials to make meth using the ‘one pot’ method.

CCSO Deputy Castle, Deputy O’Hara and K9 Jeroen assisted at the scene.

The New York State Contaminated Crime Scene Emergency Response Team (CCSERT) removed the equipment and hazardous materials from the bank of the river.

Collins was charged with unlawful manufacturing methamphetamine in the third degree, a class D felony; unlawful disposal of methamphetamine laboratory material, a class E felony; criminal possession of precursors of methamphetamine, a class E felony; and criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree, a class A misdemeanor.

Collins was arraigned in the Village of Sherburne Court and remanded to the CCCF in lieu of $5,000 cash bail. He will appear in court again at a later date.
