NORWICH – A summer picnic was held at the Canasawacta Country Club on Friday, Aug. 28 for those wishing to show support for Chenango County District Attorney Joseph McBride, and for those eager to learn more about him.

Organizers estimate that 125-130 people attended the picnic.

“I am loyal to Mr. McBride because he has been by the side of Chenango County’s law enforcement officers, specifically me and my beloved Norwich PD coppers for many years,” said former Norwich Police Chief Joseph Angelino during his speech. “When policemen are making life altering decisions, let me tell you, this is the man you want on speed dial.”

Angelino added that these decisions are not simply made Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

“These are more times than not in the middle of the night,” said Angelino. “If you happened to be at the Lobsterfest a few Sundays ago, you will know that Mr. McBride was conspicuously absent, because he was at the Norwich PD working side-by-side with cops investigating a shooting. And that’s exactly how it worked for me. Never did a call to Mr. McBride go unanswered. Even at 3 a.m., this man gave me sound advice that stood the test of time and judicial scrutiny.”
