Unadilla Valley/Bainbrige-Guilford
BAINBRIGE - In a local match-up on Wednesday, September, 9, the Bainbrige-Guilford boys’ varsity soccer team took on the Unadilla Valley Storm in a close game, ultimately winning 2-0.
Both teams came out of the gate ready to play, but it was B-G’s Aidan Nolan who scored first. After a rain soaked ball slipped from UV goal keepers Adam Lamont’s grasp, Nolan was there to get the rebound and put the ball into the net, making the score of the game 1-0. Not much later in the game Nolan scored the match’s final goal on a header off of a B-G corner kick, putting the Bobcats up 2-0 at the end of the half. Neither team would score again the rest of the game.
Unadilla Valley’s best chance to score came from a penalty kick that missed just wide right. “Overal this game was a good learning experience for our young team,” said Unadilla Valley head coach Ryan Houck. “We plan to grow and learn from our mistakes.”
UV plays next Monday, September, 14, when Edmeston comes to town while Bainbrige-Guilford will travel to Sidney this weekend to play in an invitational tournament.
