SUSQUENHANNA VALLEY - On Saturday, September, 12, the Norwich varsity football team traveled to Susquehannah Valley in their second game of the season. Norwich would ultimately lose 14-13 and would fall to 0-2 on the season.
The game started off as a defensive struggle, with neither team scoring until the second quarter. Just a few minutes into the second quarter it was Sus Valley who struck first. SV quarterback Cameron Manchester fired a bullet to receiver Alex Ewanow for a 51 yard score. After an extra point SV was now up on the Purple Tornado 7-0.
A few minutes later Norwich qb Cole Rifanburg evened the score. At the three minute mark, Rifanburg took matters into his own hands and ran the ball in to the end zone from four yards out. With the extra point attempt good Norwich had effectively evened the score at seven.
After a scoreless third quarter both teams were looking to put points on the board to break the tie. SV broke the tie in spectacular fashion on a 79 yard touchdown run from Brandon Vosbury with just over 9:30 left to go in the game.
