OXFORD - On a night where Oxford coach Mick James was honored for his 45 years of coaching in Chenango County, his defense let up just 28 total yards in 34-0 win over Candor. In the beginning of the fourth quarter of the game on Friday, September 25, the Candor coaches would call the game as too many Candor players were getting injured. Oxford would walk away with the win and a forfeit.

Before the game started the Oxford coaches surprised Coach James with a plaque commemorating his service and commitment to coaching Chenango County's youth for the past 45 years. Countless athletes have either been coached or trained by Coach James over the last half of a decade and can attest to his devotion and commitment to the kids.

After the ceremony it was game time for the Blackhawks who came out of the gate with a lot of emotion. It took Oxford a few series to get in a grove, but once they did they would not let up. On their second series with the ball, the Blackhawks marched down field on multiple breakaway runs by Nick Neer to get close to the goal line. With 2:36 left in the quarter Neer took a run in from seven yards out for the game's first touchdown. After a blocked point after attempt, Oxford was now up 6-0.
