NORWICH – The Norwich American Legion Auxiliary recently honored Grace Gustafson with flowers on her 100th Birthday.
Grace has been a member of the Norwich Auxiliary for more than 30 years. Her eligibility to join was under her last husband, Frank, who served in the U.S. Navy.
Frank and Grace have three children: Richard, Karl, and Connie. Both sons served their country, as their father did. Richard, like his father, served in the Navy, while Karl enlisted in the U.S. Air Force.
Grace lives at home with her daughter, Connie. Both attend the Legion on a weekly basis. On one of their recent visits, the Auxiliary presented Grace with a certificate honoring her for her years of service and made her an “Honorary Life Member.” Pictured presenting the certificate is Sophie Liberatore, Aux. Secretary; Betty Larry, First Vice; and Linda Ashcraft, Sgt. At Arms. Missing from the picture is Aux. President Mary Lou McAvoy.
The Auxillary thanks Grace for being a long-time member and looks forward to seeing her each week.
As the world’s largest womens’ patriotic service organization for nearly a century, the American Legion Auxiliary has been serving, helping and meeting the needs of the nation’s veterans, military and families, both here and abroad.
