SHERBURNE – A Norwich native who has relocated down south is set to hold a makeup class in at 6 p.m. Tuesday at Summerhill.
Jessica Zirkelbach attended Norwich High School, and has since moved on to pursue what she said has been a passion for many years.
“I have always been interested in makeup, I probably wore too much when I was younger,” said Zirkelbach. “During the last few years I have become increasingly interested and maybe a little addicted to YouTube makeup tutorials. The more I watched the more I practiced and experimented and was inspired to start my own YouTube channel, Jessica Zirk, in turn opening a world of opportunities for my long-term hobby.”
Jessica was able to take her hobby to a new level when she attended Kim Kardashian’s Master Class in California.
“My face probably lights up at any mention of The Master Class,” Zirkelbach said. “It was quite the experience. My first priority for the class was to meet Kim, her beauty and style is my number one inspiration. To watch her makeup artist, Mario Dedivanovic work his magic on her was surreal. Mario is a very talented artist, I certainly picked up a few tips and tricks. Kim's bare face was stunning, she is beautiful with or without makeup, she was incredibly humble and kind the entire duration of the 4 hour class.”
Zirkelbach said her family currently splits their time between Anderson, SC and Palmetto, FL. Their full-time home is in SC and has been for eight years. She said they are in FL 2-3 long weekends a month for her husband’s work.
Zirkelbach added that she is very excited to be able to teach a class of her own while back in Chenango County for a bit.
When asked if she thought makeup is empowering for women, Zirkelbach said, “Absolutely, I think makeup has the ability to increase confidence and self esteem. Woman are empowered by larger scale subjects, such as education but there's something about red lips that make any woman feel like the can conquer the day!”
“Often times I sit at my vanity, in a rush, ready to pull out my hair and by the time I finish my makeup my problems aren't so big anymore,” she said. “I get lost in the process and really enjoy creating a finished product I am proud of, even in five minutes.”
Doors open at 5:15 tonight at Summerhill at 742 Turnpike Road in Sherburne. The event begins at 6 p.m. General admission tickets are $25 at the door. There is also a chance for someone in attendance to win a goodie bag with a value of $250.
“The beauty of makeup is that it washes off and anyone can wear it,” said Zirkelbach. “Makeup doesn't discriminate. I am covering a complete and thorough, full face makeup application in the class, although this isn't the average woman's every day makeup routine, I believe that woman of all ages will be able to take what they can use away from the class, but I will also add that my good guy friend is very disappointed he couldn't make it.”
