Onward and Upward, Patrollers! Now the DVD Patrol begins phase two and the Toddster hopes you enjoyes last weeks's special. It's amazing how far we've come but we still have more to go. Let's start December with some new movies and a new show that just started on Netflix. Make something your choice starting here for the Holidays.
New on DVD
American Ultra- You never know what you can do until you do it. Mike (Jesse Eisenberg) didn't really have a lot of hopes in his life. He just went to work and liked to get high. His life is about to change when some men come after him and he's able to defend himself with skills he never knew he had. He tells his best friend Phoebe (Kristen Stewart) about it. She doesn't believe him at first until he sees him in action. Now that she knows about him, she's in danger too. Can Mike and Phoebe find a way out before something happens to them? Eisenberg has some new projects coming including a stint as Lex Luthor in "Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice in March 2016. Also, he returns as Daniel Atlas in "Now You See Me 2" slated for next Summer.
Ricki and the Flash (2015)- It's never giving up easy on something you've wanted. Ricki (Meryl Streep) wanted a family but she always had regrets on giving up on her dream of being a rock star. She decides to leave home to pursue it. Years later, her dream is realized but it doesn't work out as she had hoped. When she receives a message that her daughter is about to get married, she wants the chance to make something right in her life. Returning home doesn't come as easy as playing in a rock band. Can she make things right and find some type of balance with her current one? Streep has a number of movies from over the years that include "Kramer vs Kramer,""Into the Woods," and "Silkwood" now out on DVD in stores.
Also on DVD
Mr. Holmes- Sometimes you have to prove you still got it. Sherlock Holmes (Ian McCellan) was considered the Greatest Detective in the World but it's now 30 years later and he has been long since retired. His housekeeper, Miss. Munro (Laura Linney), takes care of him. She sees him as a nice man who's getting on later in his life. She brings her son Roger (Milo Parker) to work with her one day and Roger realizes who he is. He starts to talk to him about his career and wants to know about the last case he ever worked on. As he starts to remember what happened all those years ago, he does his best to recollect the facts of the case but it was a case he wasn't able to solve. With Roger's help, he thinks he might be able to. Can he do it? McCellan always has a number of projects going on. My sources tell me that he may be involved in the new "X-Men: Apocalypse" coming to theaters next Summer.
New on Netflix
AKA Jessica Jones- Even Heroes can go through a bad patch. Marvel Comics introduces their latest hero Jessica Jones (Krystyn Ritter). Jessica Jones received her super powers that make her stronger and faster than anyone. When she meets Zebadiah Killgrave (David Tennant), her luck becomes much worse. Like Jessica, Killgrave has powers too but he has the ability to make anyone do whatever he says. He did this to Jessica and now she knows he has come back. In the pilot episode, Jessica realizes this and she receives some new clients who ask her to find their daughter. When she finds her, Jessica learns that Killgrave is still alive and is now after her. Will Jessica find a way to stop him once and for all? Season 1 is now available on Netflix.
That's all we have for this time out. For next week, a pint size super hero and a certain transporter will have some new movies for the patrol. The Toddster will be back.
