NORWICH – A man and woman are being held at the Norwich Police Department pending arraignment following their arrest on meth charges early Tuesday morning.
Freeman J. Deabay III and Sephanie S. Vierkant, both of Division Street in Norwich, are now facing felony and misdemeanor charges.
Both Deabay and Vierkant were arrested and charged with unlwaful manufacture of methamphetamine in the third degree, a class D felony; criminal nuisance in the second degree, a class B misdemeanor; endangering the welfare of a child in the second degree; and criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree, a class A misdemeanor.
Deabay, 44, was arrested at 1:32 a.m. Tuesday. Vierkant, 35, was arrested less than two hours later.
The unlawful manufacture of meth charges allege that the two possessed and intended to use equipment and ingredients to make meth.
The criminal nuisance charges allege by conduct, either unlawful in itself or unreasonable under all the circumstances, the subjects knowingly or recklessly created or maintained a condition which endangers the safety or health of a considerable number of persons; or the subjects knowingly conducted or maintained any premises or place where persons gather for purposes of engaging in unlawful conduct.
As of press time, the Norwich Police Department has not released any further information with regard to when the individuals will be arraigned in court.
