McDONOUGH – Gusty winds late Sunday into early Monday morning are to blame for a power outage for NYSEG customers scattered across four townships in Chenango County.

According to National Weather Service data, gusts in excess of 30 miles per hour were recorded in the McDonough and Preston areas throughout the overnight hours, killing power to homes in Preston, McDonough, German and Plymouth.

At press time, NYSEG’s electricity outage list indicates that some 38 customer are still without power. A spokesperson for NYSEG could not be reached for comment.
