BAINBRIDGE - The Bainbridge-Guilford-Afton-Harpursville wrestling squad continued cruising this season in a 42-33 victory at home versus Deposit-Hancock on Wednesday evening.
The match started at 195-pounds where D/H’s Ethan Wormuth’s pinned Vincinet Caiti of BGAH only 1:26 into the contest. A handful of forfeits in favor of the Eagles at the 285, 106, and 113 weight classes helped put Deposit-Hancock at a commanding 33-16 lead over halfway through the competition.
But the BGAH Bears would come storming back, and they would win the final remaining 5 matches of the night to move to 8-0 on the season.
Ben Bivar got the ball rolling for BGAH as he picked up a forfeit at the 145-weight class.
The momentum would continue in the Bears’ favor as Shane Hoover defeated Trevor Stiles by decision at 152, and Madison Hoover picked up a huge pin over Devin Decker at the 160 weight class to bring BGAH within 2 points with just two weight classes left to wrestle.
Following a forfeit at the 170-weight class, BGAH went into the final match of the evening with a slight lead at 37-33. Austin Carr came in clutch for the Bears with a technical fall victory at 182-pounds to give BGAH their 8th straight victory this season.
The BGAH Bears will wrestle in the Red Devil Invitational on Friday at Vernon-Verona-Sherrill High School.
