BAINBRIDGE – They left it late, but Bainbridge-Guilford played their best when it counted the most to come away with the win against Walton last night.
In a tense first quarter, the two teams traded baskets back and forth. It wasn’t until the second quarter that both teams erupted offensively. Trevor Halaquist led the B-G offensive charge, scoring nine of his 18 points in the quarter, while Walton’s Alex Tweedie hit 12 of his game high 27 points.
At the halftime break, the score was 27-22, in B-G’s favor.
The scoring continued after the interval and the game came to a ferocious finish in the final eight minutes. B-G were able to close the game out due to the excellent combination play between Halaquist and Zach Ouimet, who had six of his 16 points in the fourth quarter. Along with his excellent scoring display, Ouimet also combined his efforts to produce 15 rebounds and three blocks.
B-G’s Sean Jones and Tyler Johnson each finished with 10 rebounds apiece for the game, making this win a real team effort.
Next up for the Bobcats is a test against South Kortright at home next Tuesday night, Jan. 19, at 7:00 p.m.
