GREENE - The Greene varsity boys basketball team remained perfect in MAC division play on Thursday night after a 66-47 win over the Hancock Wildcats.
From the very start, the Trojans had a balanced and efficient offense with all five starters scoring in the first quarter.
“We had very good ball movement tonight, and guys were moving around as well,” said Greene Head Coach Chris Rice. “At times in the past, we’ve been standing still a little bit too much, but tonight we were able to get our motion going a little bit better.”
Greene would hustle to own most of the 50/50 balls throughout the evening, while also overwhelmingly winning the turnover margin. Coach Rice attributed this to the team’s grit.
“They’re an extremely aggressive and tough team, I think 90% of them play on the football team,” Rice said. “We’re about 9 or 10 guys deep, so we can definitely give up the fouls to play a real aggressive style of basketball.”
The Trojans were led in scoring by Senior sharpshooters Jordan Harrington and Luke Day. The duo accounted for 33 of the team’s 66 points.
