NEW BERLIN - The Unadilla Valley girls varsity basketball team came out ready to play at home on Thursday night in a 47-34 win against Harpursville.
The Storm scored a quick 20 points in the first quarter that would fuel their victory. Unadilla Valley Head Coach Brandi Backus credited their sound start to an effective transition offense that would lead to a multitude of fast break buckets.
Sophomore Julia Oglesby scored 10 of the Storm’s initial 20, and she would end up with a game-high 18 points in the match. Oglesby was also one rebound short of a double-double, with 9 boards.
Unadilla Valley only scored 15 points total in the second half, but a strong defensive effort and their efficacious offense to start the game was enough to keep the Hornets at a distance until the clock reached 0:00.
The UV girls will travel to Unatego on Monday to take on the Spartans in a conference game.
